Understanding The New Wineskin

Jesus said that new wine must be put into new wineskins. The new wine is His life that He wants to give us through the Holy Spirit. The new wineskin is the new-covenant church that He wants to build through us, in which this life is to be manifested.

The old wineskin is a church built on human traditions and not on God’s Word.

A group of people meeting together in the Name of Christ somewhere can be just a congregation, like the people of Israel were under the old covenant. To be a new-covenant church, these members should be functioning together as one Body.

And even if they care for one another, they may still be just a Christian club, if each member does not have an intimate relationship with Christ, the Head Of the Body.
