Unlike most of Dr. A.W. Tozer's books, this book sketches the life history of A.B. Simpson. As Tozer himself admits, "it is hard to write dispassionately of one possessing the tremendous emotional appeal of A.B. Simpson. The sheer spiritual weight of the man crushes in upon us till we are overcome with it and, like Daniel, we 'sit down astonished'. But in spite of this, we shall try to maintain a fair objectivity in our treatment of the subject matter which his life affords".
And this is exactly what Tozer has admirably accomplished in this book. The life of A.B. Simpson is must reading for anyone desiring to know what God can do through one man who is wholly committed to Him.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A.W. Tozer (1897—1963) began his lifelong pursuit of God at the age of seventeen after hearing a street preacher in Akron, Ohio. A self-taught theologian, Tozer was a pastor, writer and editor whose powerful use of words continues to grip the intellect and stir the soul of today's reader. "A 20th-century prophet" they called him even in his own lifetime. For 31 years he was pastor of Southside Alliance Church in Chicago, where his reputation as a man of God was city-wide. Concurrently, he became editor of Alliance Life, a responsibility he fulfilled until his death in 1963. His greatest legacy to the Christian world has been his more than 40 books, including this one.
